The new machine – called VX7000 – is tailored to the requirements of an international  industrial partner and will feature a build volume of approximately 7,000 x 7,000 x 1,000 mm³.

With the VX7000, voxeljet introduces the next evolutionary stage of large-format binder jet 3D printing systems at a customer site – engineered for industrial-scale operation and high-volume production environments.
Building on the proven VX4000, the industry’s long-standing reference model, the VX7000 sets new standards in precision, scalability, and efficiency for printed sand, ceramics and other suitable materials.

Revolutionary Machine Concept

At the core of the VX7000 lies a kind of reversed build concept: instead of a descending build platform, the foundation of the printing process remains completely stationary. The recoater and printhead units move upwards layer by layer along a precisely guided Z-axis.
This design enables an extra-large build volume of up to 7 × 7 × 1 meters, handling over 60 tons of sand with uncompromising precision and surface quality.

On request, both the build length and height can be adapted to specific customer needs without redesigning the whole system.
Each VX7000 allows partially automated job-by-job build area customization, saving time, material, and energy.

High-Performance Printing System

The VX7000 is equipped as standard with four printheads, each approximately 1 meter wide and featuring 7,168 nozzles. This configuration achieves layer times below 100 seconds.
Depending on customer requirements, the system can be expanded with additional printheads to boost throughput or reduced to lower initial investment costs.
A central, pressurized, large-diameter binder supply line ensures fast and uniform filling of all printheads, contributing to consistent part quality and process stability.

Intelligent Material Logistics

Sand supply is managed through a central feed point, easily connectable to customer-side silos.
An industrial mixer blends the base sand with activator and reclaimed sand before it is gently and dust-free distributed via a cartesian robotic system into several buffer silos.
These silos continuously feed the recoater -fully independent from the printing process – with perfectly conditioned sand, guaranteeing uniform layer quality throughout the entire build process.

Precision Engineering for Maximum Accuracy

The VX7000 incorporates several design innovations that maximize dimensional accuracy:

• A cast-concrete build platform mounted on rails – offering superior rigidity and minimal thermal expansion. The use of rails enables the platform to be moved smoothly out of the system into an unpacking position, regardless of the quality of the ground and despite a high load of 60 tons or more.
• Ultra-stiff tubular frame constructions for both the printhead and recoater bridges, featuring fixed and floating bearings to compensate for temperature-induced expansion.
• Form-fit direct drives that maintain high stiffness and eliminate the need for costly and sensitive linear encoders.

A Z-axis system composed of eight vertical column drives – four per side – each using ball screw spindles and electronically synchronized servo drives. The massive cast-iron column bases rest on adjustable feet for independent alignment and simplified installation.

Efficiency Through Smart Cleaning Systems

To minimize binder consumption and reduce operating costs, the VX7000 integrates a multi-stage printhead cleaning system.
Binder expelled during purge routines can be collected and reintroduced into the system.
Additionally, a modular recoater cleaning station ensures rapid maintenance cycles; even if one module fails, the printer continues operation with a reduced build area – ensuring maximum uptime.

Next-Generation Recoater Technology

As with most voxeljet systems, the VX7000 uses an advanced vibrating blade recoater.

The collaboration brings together two of the most experienced teams in binder jet 3D printing under one coordinated service framework, designed to deliver faster response times, higher uptime, and greater customer confidence.

Through this new alliance, customers of both ExOne and voxeljet systems will have access to on-demand technical support, as well as expanded access to certified service technicians and spare parts inventory across 8 countries (USA, Germany, Japan, China, India, South Korea, Singapore, and France). The expanded service network includes a steadily increasing spare parts inventory with the recent addition of over $1 million of spare parts at the joint service center outside of Detroit, Michigan. FRIEDBERG, Germany- voxeljet AG (the “Company”, “voxeljet”, or “we”), a provider of high-speed, large-format 3D printers and on-demand parts services to industrial and commercial customers, today announced that main investor Anzu Special Acquisition Corp II (“Anzu”) will contribute new equity capital of EUR 2.5 million as part of a plan confirmed today by the court in Munich. The plan additionally provides for a debt waiver totalling EUR 3.5 million debt owed to Anzu and extension of the debt maturity until 2031. These measures are intended to ensure the Company’s long-term financing and position voxeljet for future success.

The court confirmed the plan in accordance with the German Corporate Stabilization and Restructuring Act (StaRUG) (“StaRUG Plan”). As previously communicated, the plan provides for a simplified reduction of the share capital of voxeljet AG to zero euros. The court-confirmed plan will result in the exclusion of the current shareholders of voxeljet AG without compensation. Subsequently, the company’s capital will be increased excluding the subscription rights of the current shareholders. Anzu, as the only financial creditor affected by the plan, will exclusively be admitted to subscribing to the new shares.

The debt waiver will be composed of EUR 500,000 to be waived in 2025 and EUR 1,500,000 in each of 2026 and 2027. Furthermore, the annual interest rate will be reduced to 3% p.a. from July 2026 onwards. No interest payments are due until after June 30, 2026. The plan also stipulates that the promissory note loans will only become due for repayment on January 2, 2031.

The plan shall be implemented immediately after the plan confirmation becomes legally binding.

After the general meeting, the Company’s main creditor, which is affiliated with Anzu, agreed to provide financial contributions as part of a restructuring plan in accordance with the German Company Stabilization and Restructuring Act (“StaRUG”). Subsequently, the management board and supervisory board of the Company decided to file a restructuring measure in accordance with StaRUG with the Local Court of Munich at short notice.

The planned restructuring measure is aimed at restoring the Company’s financial capability. A targeted realignment of the capital structure is intended to improve the short-term liquidity situation, reduce the debt burden and strengthen the equity base.

The restructuring plan provides for an adjustment of the promissory note loans granted by the main creditor. This includes a debt waiver totaling EUR 3,500,000, of which EUR 500,000 will be waived in the year 2025 and EUR 1,500,000 in each of the years 2026 and 2027. In addition, the annual interest rate will be reduced to 3% p.a. from July 2026 onwards. No interest payments are due between August 2025 and June 2026. The term of the loans will be extended until at least 2030.

The restructuring plan also provides for a simplified reduction of the share capital of voxeljet AG to zero. The implementation will result in the exclusion of the current shareholders of voxeljet AG without compensation.

This will be followed by a capital increase excluding shareholders’ subscription rights. The new shares will be subscribed by the main creditor as investor, who will contribute new equity capital of EUR 2,500,000 as part of the capital increase.

The planned measures on the debt and equity side are designed to position the company for long-term competitiveness and economic viability.

Since it is not predominantly likely that the capital measures envisaged in the restructuring plan will obtain the necessary approval of the general meeting (at least 75% of the share capital present), the restructuring plan shall be implemented in accordance with StaRUG.

On this basis, the Company will work with its advisors to prepare further documentation at short notice. The implementation of the agreement on the restructuring plan will remain subject to customary closing conditions.

The preparation, auditing, and publication of the annual and consolidated financial statements of voxeljet AG will only be possible once the implementation of the restructuring plan has been secured. As a result, the publication of the annual and consolidated financial statements for 2024 will be delayed and cannot take place until the second half of August 2025 at the earliest.

Augsburg, November 18^th, 2024 – voxeljet AG announced the expansion of its High Speed Sintering (HSS) network with the addition of a new production partner, FKM Sintertechnik GmbH, located north of Frankfurt. As part of the beta program, the two companies are working closely together to further optimize the process parameters of the VX1000 HSS, the largest ink-based polymer 3D printer on the market. The goal is to increase the efficiency and quality of the printing process. The VX1000 HSS at FKM, one of Germany’s leading 3D printing service providers, meets the requirements of industrial applications, including mechanical strength, homogeneity of the build field, and reproducibility of results.

Following the announcement of the cooperation in November 2023, the VX1000 HSS has undergone significant improvements. In addition to optimizing mechanical part specifications, there has been a successful effort to homogenize part properties and quality across the entire building platform. With a print volume of 1,000 x 540 x 180 mm (for PA12), the VX1000 HSS is one of the largest and most powerful 3D printers for polymers on the market. The powder and ink-based HSS process requires consistent and highly precise temperature management to achieve the desired part properties. The VX1000 HSS demonstrates clear advantages in terms of production speed, quality, dimensional accuracy, and unit costs, particularly in comparison to SLS systems, even for large components.

November 13th, 2024 – Friedberg near Munich, Germany – voxeljet AG, Dressler Group GmbH, and Fraunhofer IPA have announced the successful completion of a material study for waste PA12 powder from laser-based 3D printing systems. In the study, waste powder from Selective Laser Sintering systems was successfully recycled by Dressler Group and 3D printed by Fraunhofer IPA at the University of Bayreuth, using a VX200 HSS platform from voxeljet. The initial results demonstrate that reconditioned PA12 waste powder can be processed effectively using ink- and printhead-based High Speed Sintering (HSS) technology enabling sustainable and cost-efficient production. The preliminary test results indicate that the material properties are equal or may even exceed those of comparable prints with fresh powder.

In SLS systems, unprinted PA12 powder loses its ability to be reused due to high temperature exposure in the build area, which causes the polyamide chains to lengthen after condensation, negatively affecting powder flowability and melt viscosity. This makes the material difficult to process again via laser-based technologies, as the energy input from lasers is too short to process longer molecule chains accordingly. Therefore, comparably high powder refresh rates are necessary, accumulating waste and associated high disposal costs.

The collaborative study aimed to reclaim this used powder by processing it through voxeljet’s VX200 HSS platform. HSS technology, using an inkjet-based printhead and infrared (IR) heating, offers selective and thermally gentler energy input, allowing the polyamide to sinter gradually, enabling the reuse of this powder. This means a real tribute to circular economy in Additive Manufacturing.

Dressler Group, experts in powder design and manufacturing, processed the used PA12 powder to homogenize and recover key powder properties such as flowability and moisture, making it suitable for reuse in HSS.

“Recycling used PA12 powder can effectively reduce costs and support sustainability efforts in AM.” says Dr. Ing. Holger Leonards, Head of R&D at Dressler Group. “Our expertise in regenerating powder properties and handling of large powder volumes enables companies to reclaim this valuable material.”

“The VX200 HSS technology is an open-source system, allowing us to quickly change and adapt process parameters to any powder.” says Jan Kemnitzer, Research Team Lead at Fraunhofer IPA and adds “We were therefore able to quickly adapt the 3D printer to the material with consistent or improved results in part properties.”

“The results of this study are especially interesting for ink and printhead based technologies such as the HSS technology. The future possibility of processing this recycled powder on production platforms like the VX1000HSS will bring immense cost savings.” says Tobias Grün, Global Product Management at voxeljet. “Typically, 50 % of the running costs are attributable to powder costs. Thus, this development provides a huge effect on cost effectiveness while boosting a circular material flow, reducing waste.”

This study highlights the growing issue of excess PA12 waste powder within the additive manufacturing industry. By reclaiming this material for use in voxeljet’s HSS technology, companies can reduce waste, lower operational costs, and improve sustainability in their additive manufacturing processes.

First parts of this collaboration will be shown at the formnext trade show in Frankfurt, Germany from November 19^th to 22^nd   and can be seen at the voxeljet booth E08 or the Fraunhofer booth C71 in hall 12.1.
