Russia will start the component additive manufacturing plan in 2020

Russian Airways reported on July 15 that Russian Helicopter plans to redesign about 30 different helicopter parts, which will be manufactured using 3D printing technology and will be mass-produced in 2020.

Andrey Shibitov, innovation director of Russian helicopters, said: "This year, about 30 different parts and details will be designed. The production of these parts and details will be combined with 3D printing. According to our It is planned that this process will begin in 2020. We are discussing the important components of the helicopter structure, the body and the system. By the end of this year, we will decide whether we are going to mass produce these parts."

Currently, Russian-made helicopters have not included components made from additive materials. Russian helicopters predict that the share of global 3D printed components will increase significantly between 2020 and 2022. The use of additive manufacturing can reduce the cost of the aircraft.
