All eyes on Formnext 2019

This year, Formnext has announced that the USA will be its first partner country for the mega show. In this background, a dedicated USA pavilion with numerous industry players from the region will also be seen showcasing their most innovative technologies at the fair. The four day show is expected to exhibit many pioneering innovations in the additive manufacturing space.

Formnext is an international exhibition for the next generation of intelligent manufacturing technologies. With a dedicated focus on additive manufacturing and innovative production technologies, the show is expected to be held from November 19 – 22, 2019 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Here, leading industry leaders will be showcasing their most recent solutions and technologies to industry players across the globe.

More than 740 exhibitors from 34 nations will be displaying their innovations at the trade fair. Out of this, around 285 new exhibitors from 29 countries will be exhibiting their solutions for the first time at the show. Most of these companies are from China, USA, the UK, Italy, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. Formnext is the platform which attracts visitors from numerous industry segments such as automotive, aerospace, mechanical engineering, medical technology, electrical engineering, and so on.

Partner country – USA

Formnext’s first ever partner country is the USA owing to the country’s strong presence in the additive manufacturing industry. With an aim to further boost business relations between the two countries, especially in the field of AM, the event has made arrangements for a dedicated US pavilion wherein leading US companies will exhibit their latest innovations in AM and other intelligent production technologies. Global visitors will also be able to learn more about US companies via short presentations at the pavilion. This platform will also enable industry leaders to get an idea of the latest happenings in the US market.

Special spaces at Formnext 2019

This year, the show will be hosting special pavilions – additive4industry and the Start-up Areas & Innovation made in Germany.

Additive4industry

The additive4industry pavilion is headed by the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA) and will be a special showcase which demonstrates examples of industrial application from among the 150 members of the Additive Manufacturing Association. It will primarily focus on the process and technologies used in production and manufacturing.

Start-up Areas & Innovation made in Germany

In the Start-up Areas & Innovation made in Germany pavilion, young start-up companies will exhibit their innovative and fresh out-of-the-box ideas and solutions which are sure to leave industry stalwarts asking for more. Infact, the event also organised the Formnext Start-up Challenge 2019 under which the winners were awarded for their unique solutions regarding the future development of the additive manufacturing sector.

The winners of this challenge are AdditiveLab (Belgium), Exponential Technologies (Latvia), Glassomer (Germany), LMI - Laser Melting Innovations (Germany), and Spectroplast (Switzerland). The winners managed to impress the international judging panel with a diverse range of industrial 3D printing innovations, including software and simulation solutions for more efficient additive manufacturing, a low-cost metal printer, and additive manufacturing solutions using glass and silicone.

Expert conferences

Like every year, this year too Formnext will be organising a series of specialised conferences. For instance, the four-day TCT Conference @ Formnext is one of the most popular sessions at the trade fair. With over 60 expert presentations on additive manufacturing, 3D printing design, CAD/CAE, metrology and inspection, the conference aims at educating industry players to apply new technologies across various industry segments.

Another interesting and constant session at Formnext is the conference titled BE-AM | Built Environment – Additive Manufacturing. This symposium will be held on November 20, 2019 and renowned Prof. Dr.-Ing Ulrich Knaack from the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Design, ISMD along with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Oliver Tessmann from the Digital Design Unit, DDU will invite experts to share their viewpoints on the current status and future potential of additive manufacturing for construction and architecture.
