FDM desktop maker BCN3D receives $3 million in seed investment

BCN3D is a Barcelona-based desktop 3D printing OEM. On March 28, 2019, the author learned from foreign media that the company announced today that it has received a $3 million seed round investment.

This round of investment from Accurafy4, JME VC and Victoria will make BCN3D one of the top 10 desktop 3D printing manufacturers in Europe. The investment will enable the company to increase production and further develop its independent double extruder (IDEX) 3D printing technology.

Led by CEO Xavier Martínez Faneca, BCN3D offers 3D printers for prototyping, functional verification and manufacturing tools and fixtures.

The company launched the Sigma R19 and Sigmax R19 platforms in September 2018 and recently achieved sales milestones of 5,000 3D printers through a network of 60 active distribution partners around the world. Customers include BMW, Samsung, Louis Vuitton, Nissan, NASA, HTC or ALBA synchrotron.

At the end of the incubation period, BCN3D also announced that it has officially separated from the CIM-UPC Center, an additive manufacturing center from southern Europe that is part of the University of Political Sciences of Catalonia (Brazil University of the Pacific).

“With this funding, we will be able to increase production to meet market demand and reduce our long-term delivery times due to production constraints,” Faneca commented.
